Wellbeing & Gender Scan

Our Wellbeing & Gender Scan combines a detailed wellbeing assessment with the opportunity to find out your baby’s gender in a calm, supportive setting. This scan is ideal if you would like reassurance about your baby’s wellbeing while enjoying the special moment of gender discovery.

This scan is usually performed from 14 weeks onwards, when gender identification is more reliable.

What does the scan assess?

During your Wellbeing & Gender Scan, we will:

  • Assess your baby’s overall wellbeing
  • Check your baby’s position and movements
  • Assess amniotic fluid levels
  • Review placental position and appearance
  • Confirm fetal heart activity
  • Identify your baby’s gender (where baby’s position allows)

Gender identification is highly accurate at this stage, although in some cases it may not be possible if your baby is not in a suitable position. This will be explained clearly during your appointment.

Important information

This scan is a reassurance and bonding scan and does not replace NHS antenatal screening or diagnostic scans. Image quality depends on gestational age and baby’s position.
